The Charlottesville Albemarle Airport (CHO) is a non-hub, commercial service airport offering one-stop international and domestic destinations, as well as daily non-stop flights around the U.S. CHO is served by Delta, United Express, and American Airlines offering over 50 daily non-stop flights to and from Charlotte, Philadelphia, New York/LaGuardia, Washington/Dulles, Atlanta, and Chicago.

CHO is located 8 miles north of the City of Charlottesville, 1 mile west of Route 29 on Airport Road. Daily and hourly parking lots are conveniently located to make ease of use a given at the Airport.

Patrons can park in the Culbreth Road Parking Garage located adjacent to the Drama Building theatres. The parking garage and theatres are located on Culbreth Road which can be accessed from Rugby Road or University Avenue. Parking is free for theatre patrons during all VTF performances.

During the day, there is paid parking available in the garage or 15-minute free Box Office parking in the cutout in front of the building along Culbreth Road.

Tickets

There are multiple ways to obtain your Festival tickets, including online, by phone, or in person. We also offer discounts to students. Complete information on our box office hours, ticket prices, and policies can be found on our Box Office page. 

Accessibility & Seating

All Virginia Theatre Festival performances take place in the UVA Department of Drama’s state-of-the-art theatre complex. The 2024 season will utilize the 520-seat Culbreth Theatre with proscenium stage and the Ruth Caplin Theatre with a 300-seat thrust configuration. Both theatres are handicap accessible. To reserve handicap or mobility seating, please order your tickets over the phone or in person to ensure the best seating option. 

Bringing Children

We welcome theatre goers of all ages!  For safety reasons all patrons, large and small, require tickets.  Children must be able to sit in a seat by themselves and enjoy a full-length production (about two hours); babes in arms are not permitted.  Strollers are not allowed in the theatre.  Parents are always the best judge of what is appropriate for their child.
